Summer is full swing and for many families it means packing up the van, piling in the kids and heading to the beach, going on a road trip for an extended vacation, or even to play by a camp fire at night. You might end up at a beach house or mountain cabin and in the evenings as your kids rummage around their lodging for games to play, they might find in a cabinet a stack of familiar mass market games like Connect Four, Scrabble, Boggle, Yahtzee, Chess, Checkers, or Backgammon.
Vacations are an ideal time to bond as a family over a board game because kids stay up later at night and there is time for learning a new game. If space is a premium when packing, here is a list of games that won’t take up much room, have a lot of interesting game play, are affordably priced, and are in a small package that is easily packed in a suitcase or a carry-on bag for an airplane flight. These games are small enough to pack several of them in your luggage!
